Lampshades I've Created

Trained as a properties artisan in regional theatre on the West Coast in the 1980s, my favorite projects were restoring or making antique lampshades. Now that I am retired in Missoula, Montana, I've started my own artisanry business--Missoula's Artisan at Large--creating victorian lampshades and reupholstering furniture. Four of the five lampshades pictured here were created from scratch. I brazed or welded the wire frames, ombre-dyed the silk fabrics, created the embroidered overlay panels, hand strung the beaded fringe, tarted-up the lamp bases, and put it all together.
